PREMISE: Arcade game based on the syndicated Disney televison series about a police mascot who has his own unique talents for solving crimes.
IMPRESSIONS: Graphically not on a par with most Disney titles, and gameplay is ridiculously easy. Save this one for the kiddies.

PREMISE: Gross is good...in this highly animated action adventure game! In a world left unprotected from pollution and the evil Booger Meister, the only hope for a clean future rests on our gross new superhero (but he'snot) Boogerman.
Unarmed (except for natural defenses) Boogerman must pick, flick, and gas his way through a hilarious adventure. The animation, game-play, and attacks set a whole new standard for fun and entertainment.

IMPRESSIONS: This is a cool game that rocks! Fart, puke, or belch on your enemies and they'll die! Graphics and sound are excellent - it'll make you sit by your computer for days, hee-hee!

PREMISE: The story takes place among the islands of Europea. One of these islands, Avalon, is said to be the final resting place of an ultimate weapon known only as the Machine God. Only those who possess the 12 rings of power can harness the Machine God for their own ends. Your part in the story begins with the discovery of one of those rings....
IMPRESSIONS: The game's battles are conducted automatically with up to 50 friendly and enemy characters engaged in battle. Your job is to merely direct your troops and order their movements on the field map in real time - sort of like Ogre Battle.

VARIATIONS: This was later remade as the first of a trilogy of RPGs under the same title for the Sony Playstation.

PREMISE: A decent enough boxing sim focusing on legends of the
middleweight class - all but a few of who will be unfamiliar to most people.
IMPRESSIONS: Good graphics and gameplay, adequate sound. Superior to Foreman for Real in one or two aspects, but not all.

VARIATIONS: Chavez 2 - 1994, Spanish YACEG variant featuring the noted boxer and a Latino lineup.
See also the entry for Julio Chavez Boxing.

PREMISE: Young Tsubasa Ozoru has a simple yet challenging dream - to become the greatest soccer player that ever lived. Based on the long-running manga/anime series created in 1982 by Yoichi Takahashi.
IMPRESSIONS: Combine anime-style karate moves and blitz screens along with a Slam Dunk style gameplay and you wind up with a soccer sim that can't be beat.

VARIATIONS: The first two entries in the series are not available for the SNES/SFC. They are part of the NES/FC library.

Captain Tsubasa 3 - 1992
Captain Tsubasa 4: Puro no Raibara Tachi - 1993, this is considered by most to be the best of the series.
Captain Tsubasa 5 - 1995, also known as Boys Soccer Team 5 from the excellent English translation patch. This installment is radically different from its predecessors, and not all agree that it was a change for the better.
Captain Tsubasa J: The Way to World Youth - 1995, the last and worst installment by all accounts. Bad graphics and gameplay that aren't up to the par of even Captain Tsubasa 3.

PREMISE: As the last of the legendary Dragon Warriors, it is up
to you to take care of a few simple tasks - like saving the world, for instance. Hey, you've gotta do a lot with a name like that!
IMPRESSIONS: This is perhaps one of the hardest RPGs to play that I
know about. Not only are the puzzles quite difficult (and sometimes mind-breaking) but also the game itself isn't that easy to play. Nonetheless, I'd say it's a good game.

PREMISE: Pick up the multicolor Brainies and match them to their appropriate color-coded spots. Increasingingly complex playing fields and patterns the farther you go.
IMPRESSIONS: Weird - very weird. Too weird to give more than just a passing mention. Oh, don't get me wrong - the basic idea is okay - it's just that the eye and ear candy is way overdone.

PREMISE: Destroy the evil Count Dracula and his army of undead minions in this game inspired by the live-action film produced by Francis Ford Coppolla and starring Gary Oldman in the title role.
IMPRESSIONS: It's a good thing that Sony hired the boys from Scotland to do the game, because quality programming yields quality results. Fans of the Shadow of the Beast series will at once recognize their beloved game engine, and the rest of us will enjoy all the bennies that result from adapting a proven performer.

PREMISE: Varik has been accused of a murder he did not commit. He is being pursued by the most ruthless bounty hunter in the business. Unfortunately during his flight, he fell into a deep dungeon full of mysterous ruins. Your goal, as Varik, is to find your way out of the intricate mazes by fighting monsters, discovering hidden treasures, and solving riddles in order to return to civilization whilst escaping your relentless pursuer. You can grab (or buy) improved arms and armor along the way, and you should - because you'll need them later on.
IMPRESSIONS: An original effort, but that's about it. The story sucks - it's just one big dungeon, and the gameplay is confusing. When you move around, your character doesn't move - the scenery does, which takes some getting used to. Also, there are lots of puzzles, and they get harder the farther you go. I don't recommend it, but you can give it a try anyway...

VARIATIONS: Brandish - 1994, the only title in the series released in an English version.
Brandish 2: The Planet Buster - 1995, never released in the U.S.
Brandish 2: Expert - 1996, a retooling of the second game that adds support for the SNES Mouse, three new level settings, and the much-ballyhooed "Time Attack" mode in which you can slug it out with all of the game's boses in timed duels. The last addition is only available after you have beaten the regular game.
