PREMISE: A series of solid and challenging YACEG football sims utilizing the proven Madden game engine. Spotlights the top NCAA football picks for a given year. The first two games were endorsed by coaching legend Bill Walsh - he eventually moved on to the NFL, so the endorsement was dropped.
IMPRESSIONS: Every bit as fun as the Madden NFL series but set for the college scene. It really doesn't matter which one you have - aside from the graphics, the team rosters, and some minor tweaking of the AI, they're all pretty much the same game.
VARIATIONS: This is the complete list of titles as I have them for the G/MD. Of these, I know that at least two were also made for the SNES, so I'm guessing that the other two were released as well (if I'm wrong, please tell me).

PREMISE: An animesque sidescrolling fighter in which you are part of a New York street gang wandering about beating the crap out of other toughs.
IMPRESSIONS: Okay, so it's nothing more than a Double Dragon clone. At least Technos had the good sense to make it tolerable.
VARIATIONS: I'm told that an English version exists, but so far I've only found references (and the dump) to the Japanese one. |

PREMISE: A highly skilled and trigger-happy squad of mercenaries is Earth's last hope against an massive alien invasion. This is the sole Contra offering for the SNES/SFC; it is a direct sequel to the NES/FC series and the precursor to the fantastic G/MD release Contra: Hard Corps.
IMPRESSIONS: Nice graphics, great playability, but man - is it tough! As if standard mode wasn't bad enough, you have to beat it on the highest difficulty to get the good ending.

Conveni Wars Barcode Battler Senki - Super Senshi Shutsugeki Seyo!
PREMISE: A game built around a specialied controller - in this case, a barcode reader. It plugged into port 2 on the original console, and then you could scan barcodes in order to give your game characters all sorts of interesting attributes. Once powered up, you could then have your character duke it out with someone else.
IMPRESSIONS: This device and game were very popular in Japan, and the SNES Emulation Centre reports a run on a certain brand of Japanese soup whose barcode gave players a massive dose of megapower.
