The Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior series of games is a role-playing experience that
many other games have tried to reproduce. Each game features a true RPG character
who Enix wants you to call your alter-ego, and allows you to name and personify
the character with your own personality. Each DQ game has a battle system that
features a first-person view of the battle, making the role-playing
experience even more authentic.
Like every classic RPG game, DQ I.II allows you to explore a fantasy world
full of memorable characters and villains. You will play as one character in DQ I
and three characters in DQ II. Make them fight and cast magic and help them to
develop into seasoned warriors of legend powerful enough to defeat evil and save
the world. |

He has traveled through the world with his father ever since he was a little boy. He is your other self, the form of the hero. As a little boy, he will meet lots of people and is sure to have all kinds of adventurous experiences, always continuing on his journey. However, the path will not always be easy, but in time, he will grow into a sturdy youth.
Later on his journey, he will meet the Monster Gramps, and a sacred power hidden within him will awaken. With that mysterious power, he will clear away malice, reform many monsters, and make them into his friends. With their help, the hero will then be able to stand up and face his destiny. |

Dual Orb 2 is an RPG released in 1994 by a small company I'MAX. It has excellent graphics for the time, and the sound is still wonderful even by today's standards. The story of Dual Orb 2 follows the adventures of a mysterious child found in the mountains by the High Priest of Garade named Aleth, and his best friend Lagnus, the Prince of Garade .
The world once held an advanced civilization much as the one our world holds today. One day disaster struck, civilization destroyed. Many years passed and civilization began to rebuild. An evil empire known as Kardosa rose. They attempted to resurrect people from the lost civilization to use the ancient technology for their own evil purposes.
One day, Kardosa came to the peaceful kingdom of Garade. Aleth and Lagnus were thrown into the middle of a world struggle for peace. They rescue a mysterious girl underground for thousands of years with no memory, and the death of Lagnus' father plunges him into a dark struggle within himself for ultimate power. The only hope for the world is an ancient legend of three magical gems that will unlock the 'Orb', the ultimate power. Can Lagnus overcome his dark struggle within? Will Aleth discover who he really is and what destiny awaits him? Who is the mysterious girl found deep underground? What happened to that ancient civilization? These questions and more will be answered in Dual Orb 2. |

The last of the Final Fantasy series to be released for any Nintendo system, Final Fantasy VI showed a bit of improvement on the side of graphics. However the game falls out of balance quickly, espically after getting espers. The story was alright, but this is not one of my favorates of the series. The music from this game, however, is some of the best in any Final Fantasy game.
Flying_Arsedoctor: From my point of view this was the peak of the series, possibly not including VII. The combat system was refined from V and the story is much more gripping, even from early on. That and the increased dose of humour that was reflected in Chrono Trigger and then in FFVII, a welcome improvement.
[The odd numbering is due to the fact that this was the sixth FF game in Japan, but only the 3rd to get a US release, hence the English translation was badged as Final Fantasy III] Released only in Japan, but unofficial english translation is available.

FM:GH is a gaiden, of sorts, unrelated to the "traditional" Front Mission timeline. It also plays unlike any of the others -- it is a sidescroller, developed in concert with members of the team who made Assault Suits: Valken. That does not mean that it doesn't have
Square's trademark RPG elements to it, rather, your character can gain levels, upgrade his equipment, customize his Wanzer, and bring allies into battle. It is a fairly long game, sporting just under a full hundred levels to blast through, and it can get fairly difficult at times.
