PREMISE: You play Spot, a one-time popular mascot for the 7UP soft drink company. Your mission is to collect as many "spots" as possible in order to rescue all your friends.
IMPRESSIONS: A totally weird yet funny game, this has great animation and kick-ass music on a par with Aladdin and Earthworm Jim. A nice change-of-taste from the plain cola taste of other run-and-jumps!
VARIATIONS: There is a sequel, Spot Goes to Hollywood, but it does not appear to have been released for the SNES/SFC. |

PREMISE: "Holly would if she could..." went the tag line to one of Ralph Bakshi's best animated movies that starred Brad Pitt, Gabriel Byrne, and the lovely Kim Basinger. It'sabout a cartoon animator who gets the chance to meet his curvaceous creation - as long as it's on HER terms. You see, she doesn't want to be a toon anymore - she wants to be real - but toons aren't supposed to be able to do that, so the Toon Police are on her (and your) tail... come to think of it, I'd want to be on her tail, too. ^_^
IMPRESSIONS: I loved the movie and was looking forward to getting my hands on the game. To say I was disappointed would be mildly. The heart is there, but the brains are lacking and this results in a game without gameplay. A great looker, but little more. |

IMPRESSIONS: Dreadfully easy, with overly cute graphics and lots of things going BOOM! Neat, in their own sort of way.

PREMISE: The sequel to the original NES/FC game, itself inspired by the original coin-op fighter.
IMPRESSIONS: I used to like beat-'em-ups until I stumbled across this game. The enemies are an eyesore to look at, and the gameplay is practically missing. If anybody can play straight through in one shot without barfing of boredom, then I congratulate you. Oh, did I mention all the cheap hits they pour on you? This game - er, I mean
TORTURE DEVICE isn't worth the trouble. |

PREMISE: First shown on Japanese television in 1992, this weird series details the misadventures of a very rude and obnoxious boy named Shinoske Nohara whose escapades make Beavis and Butt-head seem rather mild in comparison. He is quite popular in Asia for the same reason that those two dunces are popular here - he gets to pull all the stunts that good little boys and girls can't.
IMPRESSIONS: Based on the only anime series I know with an exhibitionist hero. Several of your special attacks consist of mooning the enemy to death (no, I don't think the elephant impression is in the game, thankfully). Your only main attack is to jump on enemies' heads, which is difficult in a pseudo-3D game. Colorful and cartoony, but not worthwhile gameplaywise. (Rage Games)
