PREMISE: Toshi Tanaka has been selected to play on what used to be one of the worst soccer teams in Japan. Kagekawa had a perennial reputation as a loser until a star player named Kugo Yoshiharu turned down offers from Japan's top teams to help rebuild Kagekawa. He was successful, but died of cancer at the end of the rebuilt team's first successful season. It is Kugo's shoes that Toshi has been called upon to fill, but he will have to find his own path with the coming of the new season. Based on the acclaimed anime/manga series by Tsukasa Oshima.
IMPRESSIONS: One would think that this would be nothing more than a Captain Tsubasa clone, but it's not. It eschews the "cinematic soccer" approach in favor of a pseudo-3D slant-perspective game on the same par with other top- notch SNES soccer games. At the same time, though, it remains true to its source by providing ample story material, as well as the expected top-notch Japanese graphics and sound. The only thing holding this game back for Western audiences is the language barrier. |

PREMISE: A top-secret biotank prototype has been stolen, and it's up to ESWAT's own Dunan and Briaeros to recover it. Inspired by the Masamune Shiro manga/anime series.
IMPRESSIONS: Yaawwwwnnnnn...what a dull game. Dull sound, boring colors, and 8-bit gameplay. You can jump, shoot, and carry two weapons - that's it! Not worth the trouble unless you're a hardcore Masamune Shiro fan. |

An RPG from a sports company, what a novel idea. Secret of the Stars was a very amatuerishly designed game, and it shows.
Graphics: The graphics are rather poor, but it is a SNES game, spells are neat. 8/10
Sound: MIDI, MIDI, MIDI! Sometimes good, but usually uninspiring. 7/10
Gameplay: Same old stuff, up, down, left, right, a, b, how basic. One hideous exception is the dual-party function, so after you build up one party for a while, its on to the next. 6/10
Story: So, so, get the crest, meet friends, kill the bad guy, save the world. 8/10
Difficulty: Oh, my GOD! This must be the hardest game in the history of creation. I spent without exaggeration, over 30 hours building my parties up. The enemies in the world give very little experience. I had to resort to reading a book, doing homework, or sleeping while I had AUTOBATTLE selected. Even after all of that, I was wiped out by ''Bio(something)'' which looks like Pamela Anderson on steroids. Only with a game genie and about 3 hours of cheating was I able to reach the endboss. Oh, great, I get to leave, get a plastic sword, and come back again, how lovely. Once you get the UFO, stop the game. You will never beat it. (The ending is excellent though) 10/10
Overall: 9/10 Think you've mastered gaming, then try to beat this.

PREMISE: An enchanting RPG starring a 15-year old girl. The setting is, of course, a desert in the Middle East. The heroine finds a ring in which the king of elementals has been sealed, and prays for peace. She gets her wish, but she has to make that wish come true by actually fighting monsters in the desert together with the king of
elementals.
IMPRESSIONS: The battles are conducted using a card system, sort of like a more sophisticated version of the old card game War. Using cards, the terrain can be changed to your advantage. The scenario has multiple paths so repeated plays can be enjoyed.
VARIATIONS: Sabaka no Seireioh is the game's actual Japanese title.
#####This Game is great!
Although i can't speak japanese, this game is really one of the best games I ever played on SNES.
But Japanese Games are always the best, like Rudora no Hihou, Bahamut Lagoon and so on.
A special feature of this game is the battle system, i have never seen a similar one before, it uses tarot cards and thats the funny point about it, they work like some sort of magic.
This game is for everybody how can speak japanese, wants to experience new games and everybody else ^_~ |

PREMISE: The story of young boy growing up in rural America near the close of World War I and the misadventures he had with his pet racoon. Based on the popular anime series produced by anime sensei Hayao Miyazaki (Nausicaa in the Valley of the Wind, My Neighbor Totoro, et al) for Nippon Animation's Sekai Meisaku Gekijo (World Masterpiece Theater). The show itself is derived from American writer Sterling North's classic novel Rascal - recipient of the prestigious Newberry Award for children's literature.
IMPRESSIONS: I fondly remember reading Sterling North's book as a
youth, and our friend Rascal is as every bit mischevious as I recall. Great story, with the programming to match. I loved the book, and I love the game. Be warned, though! If you don't know the story or the language, then you might want to stay away.
VARIATIONS: The name translates as Rascal the Racoon. This is often mistakenly referred to as Racoon Rascal.

PREMISE: Become a 'Cardmaster' and save your world from evil. A '3D' RPG using the DM approach. Small enemies in bland dungeons are explored one at a time between town levels. In other words, it's very linear.
IMPRESSIONS: An innovative approach to the genre. Technically it's a 3D dungeon crawler with 90-degree rotations and wait- your-turn battles. It can get boring and repetitive real fast, as well as make you dizzy, and the English translation is HORRIBLE; however, the characters are cool (long live Darwin!) and the soundtrack, while having some wimpy instruments, comes with some good tunes.
